Beibu Gulf University (BBGU) is a comprehensive public university located in Qinzhou, Guangxi, a key city in the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone. It is a university with a focus on engineering, science, and management, and holds qualifications for training national maritime crew. The university is situated on a 3A-rated scenic campus with architectural features reflecting Lingnan culture, coastal views, and Southeast Asian styles.

BBGU was founded in 1973 and currently has about 22,500 full-time students, including over 500 postgraduates and 300 international students. The university has approximately 1,400 faculty and staff, with 318 holding doctoral degrees. It is supported by the Chinese government and plays a key role in maritime talent development for the region, including the China-ASEAN shipping talent training base. The university also features the Eastern Michigan Joint College of Engineering, the first undergraduate-level Sino-foreign cooperative education institution in Guangxi.
