The 2016 IAMRI General/ Steering Committee Meeting was host by Pukyong National University. it took place on 24 October in Busan, Korea.

 The meeting adopted amendments to the IAMRI constitution and Professor  KIM Young-Seup, President of Pukyong National University was elected as  the next rotating Chairman of IAMRI for 2016-2018. Professor LEE, Minhee  from PKNU was appointed as the next rotating Secretary-General for the  next term.

 In accordance with the decisions approved by SC in 2015, the Academic  Committee was established and Professor PARK, Won-Gyu of PKNU, was  appointed as the chairman/convener of the AC. His term in office runs  from October 2016 to October 2018.

 Some of the other important issues such asthe work plan for 2017 and criteria of recruiting member were also discussed.

 Dr. Vladimir Ryabinin, UNESCO-IOC Executive Secretary and Professor  Peter Burkill, the former President of SCOR attended the meeting as the  guest speaker.

 Representatives from Pukyong National University, Ocean University of  China, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology,  as well as  staffs of IAMRI Secretariat had attended the meeting.
